Poster Presentations
The poster boards are 178 cm wide and 87 cm high: this means that posters in Landscape format will be most suitable. We have been told that the boards will accept the following fixing methods: pins; tacks; sticky tape; Velcro.  Please bring supplies for the method of your choice. Poster presenters are welcome to present audio material: please bring suitable portable equipment with you if you wish to play data.

Oral Presentations
As you will have seen from the programme, oral papers have been allocated 20 minute slots – this should correspond to 15 minutes for your talk and a further 5 minutes for questions. Our schedule is pretty tight, so we are relying on everyone to stick to their allotted time.

Technical notes for oral presentations

  • A laptop connected to a data projector and sound system will be available for your presentations. Standard software (Microsoft PowerPoint, Adobe Reader, and Media Player) and common file formats (avi, mpeg, wav, mp3, aiff, etc.) will be supported on this machine running Windows XP professional.

  • If your presentation contains audio and video files, ensure to embed the files rather than linking them to your presentation (in either case, it would be best to bring the respective files along as well as a safety precaution).

  • If you wish to display phonetic symbols, please ensure to embed the font you use when saving your presentation (File, Save as, Tools, Save Options, Embed true type fonts) as we cannot guarantee to have your specific font installed on our machine.

  • We advise you to make use of PowerPoint's Pack&Go Assistant.

  • We strongly recommend to test run your presentation on a computer other than your own.

  • In the interval before the session in which you will present, please load your presentation onto the laptop provided, test it and leave a copy under your name on it for faster access in your time slot.

  • We kindly ask you to refrain from using your own laptop for the presentation to allow for a smoother transition. Any time lost due to unforeseen difficulties will be deducted from your presentation time. The data projector has the leads required to connect to a standard VGA (15 pin D) connector on a laptop. If your laptop has a different connector then you will need to use an adapter. Please note, we are unable to supply these adapters, and you will need to bring your own. The projector is compatible with Apple Mac laptops, though you may need to bring your monitor adapter dongle.

  • A technician will be on site throughout the colloquium to offer technical assistance.

  • If you are using a handout, 100 copies will be ample. There are no photocopying facilities at the colloquium venue.
